Belmond Andean Explorer is South America’s first luxury train that combines genuine daytime getaways with sleeping accommodations at night, all while traversing the Peruvian Andes.
The Belmond Andean Explorer train travels along one of the highest train routes in the world, crossing through breathtaking cities on its way from Cusco to Lake Titicaca (Puno) and Arequipa, and exploring natural wonders and ancient kingdoms on one and two-night trips.
Enjoy travelling through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world by choosing from these four possible routes:
(Cusco – Lake Titicaca – Arequipa City) 2 nights / 3 days:
With a morning departure from Cusco, the capital of the ancient Inca Empire, you will cross the Altiplano towards Puno, and discover the spectacular beauty of Lake Titicaca. Next visit the Sumbay Caves, home to the rock art of the first humans that lived in the Peruvian highlands, before reaching the volcanic “White City” of Arequipa
ANDEAN PLAINS AND ISLANDS OF DISCOVERY
(Arequipa – Lake Titicaca – Cusco) 2 nights / 2 days:
With an evening departure from the Baroque city of Arequipa, you will head towards Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Later on you will cross through deep valleys and high mountains, where camelids graze in the wide open plains of the Peruvian Altiplano.
SPIRIT OF THE WATER
(Cusco to Puno) 1 night / 1 day:
With a morning departure from Cusco aboard the elegant cars of Belmond Andean Explorer, you will travel across the giant peaks and wide open spaces of the highest plains of the Andes, finally reaching Lake Titicaca, birthplace of the Incas.
SPIRIT OF THE ANDES
(Puno to Cusco) 1 night / 1 day:
Travel from Puno to Cusco along one of the most beautiful train routes in the world, across the highest plains of the Andes.
Experience true relaxation as you step into your own personal sanctuary. We offer four types of cabins, each one with its own bathroom and shower: the Deluxe Double Bed Cabin, Junior Double Bed Cabin, Twin Bed Cabin, or Bunk Bed Cabin. The interior designs are inspired by the texture of Peru’s handwoven fabrics, and the soft tones of Alpaca wool.
The Belmond Andean Explorer is a luxury train that can carry up to 48 passengers. Its observation car, lounge car, spa car and two dining cars have all been designed down to the smallest detail.
The Belmond Andean Explorer train will start running in May 2017.
Get together with your new friends around the medium grand piano, and relax in comfortable seating with majestic views. Talk about the day’s adventures and enjoy a refreshing drink from the bar.
Here you’ll be served fresh, colorful, and seasonal dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients from the Peruvian Andes. Our menus are carefully designed by our chefs from the Belmond Hotel Monasterio in Cusco.
