Luggage Loading and Transfer Policy - All routes

LOADING AND LUGGAGE POLICY

PeruRail’s main objective is the safety of its passengers and crew during the course of its railway operations; thus, let us remind you of certain safety measures to keep in mind when dealing with the services of PeruRail.


  1. Passengers (adult and children) must have their valid travel ticket and identification document (original or legible copy) when boarding the train.
  2. Passengers bearing forged or false documents will not be allowed on board.
  3. PeruRail may restrict boarding of passengers who are not in good health or whose health is inadequate, as well as the boarding of heavily pregnant women (seven or more months pregnant).
  4. Passengers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed on board, and neither will be those who, due to their disturbed condition, pose a potential threat to their own safety and/or to the safety of other passengers.
  5. PeruRail may physically inspect and search all suspicious luggage.
  6. Luggage exceeding the following measurements may not be allowed.

    To and from Machu Picchu Route:

    • Passengers taking the Inca Trail are eligible to our Exceptional Flexibility Policy for carry on luggage (on the route to Machu Picchu. Not on the return trip), showing their UGM permission.
    • Transfers of bulky luggage are available from and to Ollantaytambo, at no cost, for up to 23 kg, in the following timetable:

    • Storage in Ollantaytambo: Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (complimentary).
    • Storage in Machu Picchu: Monday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (complimentary).

     

    To and from Puno Route:

    • There is no limit for luggage transfers, which can be kept in luggage storage.

     

  8. The following items may not be carried:
    • Weapons, ammunition, explosive substances or any hazardous objects, which may pose a threat to the operation.
    • Objects and/o animals causing discomfort to passengers, blocking movement in the wagons or which may become an obstacle during evacuation in case of emergencies.

 

All above provisions are consistent with operational safety standards and insurance policy coverage provisions.

PeruRail shall not be liable for any instances of missing the train due to failure to abide by these provisions.
