Cusco, November 20, 2025
In 1999, when it began operations, PeruRail committed to bringing more Cusqueños closer to the world wonder, joining the “Expreso Imperial” program, an initiative of the Regional Management of Foreign Trade, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Regional Government of Cusco, to promote inclusive tourism and equitable access to the cultural richness of the region.
“PeruRail has just renewed this agreement with the region, because we are convinced that tourism should be accessible to everyone. We believe in tourism that unites, educates, and inspires pride in our history and culture,” said Felipe Portocarrero, PeruRail representative.
The renewal of the agreement came into effect last Saturday of October, with the transfer of a delegation of 50 people, as part of the hundreds that will be transported in the coming months. To date, Expreso Imperial has transported 207 delegations, bringing more than 10,000 Cusqueños to Machu Picchu.
