TEMPORARY CHANGES TO BIMODAL OPERATIONS FROM 1 SEPTEMBER

Cusco, 29 August 2025

PeruRail S.A., the railway operator for the southern and south-eastern routes of the country, announces that due to Municipal Ordinance No. 016-2024-MDO issued by the Municipality of Ollantaytambo—which prohibits the entry of heavy vehicles exceeding 6,500 kg on the road leading to Ollantaytambo Station from 1 September 2025—we are obliged to implement temporary changes to six of our bimodal service frequencies (see table).

To comply with the ordinance and continue serving our passengers on their journey, from 1 September 2025, passengers holding a bimodal train ticket for Expedition services 83 and 73 will board a bus at Wanchaq Station (Cusco). This bus will take them to Pachar Station, where they will transfer to a train bound for Machu Picchu Station (with a stop at Ollantaytambo Station).

Similarly, passengers with bimodal train tickets for Expedition services 72, 74, and 86, and Vistadome service 84, will board the train at Machu Picchu Station. The train will take them to Pachar Station, where they will disembark and board a bus to Wanchaq Station in Cusco (these trains will stop at Ollantaytambo Station for passengers not continuing to Cusco via the bimodal service).

  • All other bimodal train frequencies will continue to operate on their regular schedule, as will those trains that start and end at Ollantaytambo Station.
  • The PeruRail Vistadome Observatory service 83 will continue to operate on its regular itinerary, departing by bus from Wanchaq Station in Cusco and transferring to train at Urubamba Station, and vice versa.

We also wish to inform you that PeruRail is working to resume normal operations as soon as possible.

For further details, we are sharing a map showing the location of each operational station:
