In 2025, San Vicente de Paul School (Cusco) and La Integrada School (Anta) were the winners of the Reading with Cusco programme, thanks to the participation and commitment of their entire educational community. Each institution received a fully equipped library with 400 books, along with cushions, rugs and additional furniture, creating warm and inspiring reading spaces for more than 800 students.

Since 2024, this initiative has enabled us to transform the educational experience in 20 public schools by providing access to both physical and digital books. The competition rewards the collaborative efforts of students, teachers, parents and the wider community, and has so far delivered four new libraries: in Urubamba and Machu Picchu (2024), and now in Anta and Cusco (2025).

The aim of the programme is not only to help students become active readers, but also to strengthen community bonds. Parents, siblings, friends and teachers take part by reading books and submitting one‑minute videos or audio recordings as evidence, which earned their schools additional points.
The programme has benefited more than 40,000 people across the region. In 2025 alone, it reached 7,424 students, 390 teachers and 17,075 parents, while in 2024 it supported 6,158 students, 345 teachers and 11,085 parents.

This digital reading programme has been implemented in partnership with One Million Young Readers, an organisation dedicated to promoting reading habits among students in public schools throughout Peru by providing access to books and creating playful, engaging environments that support educational development.
