III QOMER WASICHA MEETING BELMOND PERURAIL

Cusco, 26 February, 2026

From the land to luxury gastronomy: Belmond and PeruRail celebrate the success of their local producers at the III Q’omer Wasicha Suppliers Meeting

The “Q’omer Wasicha” program – “green house,” translated from Quechua to Spanish – is promoted by Peru Belmond Hotels (PBH) and PeruRail since 2015 in the Cusco region, consolidating a sustainable supply system with formalised local producers

23 communities in Cusco generated sales of over S/ 900 thousand through the Q’omer Wasicha program

In 2025 alone, the program’s suppliers achieved direct sales to the properties of both companies for more than S/ 906,700.00, an amount distributed among the four hotels operated by PBH in Cusco and the trains operated by PeruRail. Of this total, Rio Sagrado, A Belmond Hotel, was the property that concentrated the largest percentage of purchases from the communities. Additionally, the producers are accompanied in the process of diversifying their income and permanent technical support; also commercialising in local markets and with other companies in the sector.

“Gastronomy is one of Belmond’s sustainability pillars. We believe in offering top-level cuisine while growing alongside our local suppliers, whom we have been supporting since the beginning of our operation in Cusco. We strengthen their capacities, generating a positive impact on the local economy,” stated Laurent Carrasset, Divisional Vice President South America and Development, The Americas of Belmond.

The III Q’omer Wasicha Meeting featured a culinary competition as its central activity where chefs from the four hotels, along with their allied communities, prepared a dish in record time. Among the jury members, the renowned chef Jorge Muñoz stood out. The winning team was the Rio Sagrado hotel, led by chef Gregorio Anchaya, who presented a pachamanca made with baby lettuces, ollucos, lamb jams and tubers. The event also included a training session aimed at strengthening the producers’ capacities
